Let's pretend . . .

...that this is last Thursday. :) Not that it really matters, but obviously today is not Thursday and this is a "Three for Thursdays" prompt. I love the prompts b/c it minimizes how much I have to think about what to post. Although I have some other things that I've come up with on my own that I want to blog about, but just haven't gotten around to yet. Someday soon. Really.

Three funny things I saw or heard today:

I heard several delicious laughs from Enoch today when I rubbed my chin against his bare chest. I was delightfully surprised when he started giggling.
Kate spun around enough that she fell down. It's always funny to see a kid do that - unless they hurt themselves, but she didn't so it was just fun. haha
I watched a couple episodes of "The Cosby Show". Always makes me chuckle.

Three things on my Christmas wish list:
I'm embarrassed at how many expensive things I want, but here it goes! Try not to giggle at how specific some of the list is.

40-42" 1080p LCD HDTV
Things to help me train for a triathlon, such as: high quality swimsuit or wetsuit, goggles, swim cap, etc.

Three things that I love about my neighborhood:

It makes me giggle that my neighborhood is more of a glorified cul-de-sac. 8 two-unit homes, and they still bothered to give the "subdivision" its own name.
The unit that is kitty-corner to us has a great boxed garden in the front yard. Who puts a vegetable garden in the front yard? This neighbor does, and I can't really explain why but I love it.
There are flowers planted by the subdivision sign, but they're native to the area so they look like they occurred there naturally!

Three things that make me happy and sad all at the same time:

My kids growing up. I don't miss the diapers that my two oldest used to wear, but I do miss the babies that wore them. But it's so interesting to witness their personalities develop as they get older!
My husband's job. I am more fortunate than many women b/c my husband's job includes a long summer vacation, plus I am very grateful that he has a job. But I would like it if I could have him home more.
This will probably seem weird, but it's true. My younger sister has an opportunity to take a European tour for a semester. I'm really excited for her, but I really long to do some foreign travel myself (never have) . . . so I'm sad that I don't get to go with her.

Lord of the Rings (okay, Tolkien calls them 'oliphants,' but they're the same thing!)

David's Bio

I grew up in southeastern Idaho moving at age one from the center of our town to the outskirts. This home had approximately ten acres and much of my youth was spent outdoors both playing and working with my grandparents on their farms. I enjoyed sports throughout my life and was active in wrestling and football throughout junior high and high school. My junior and senior years at high school a sweet young girl even convinced me to join the ballroom dance team. I graduated from high school and attended BYU where I earned my Bachelors degree in Biology in April 2007. Having been raised in the gospel it has always been an influence in my life.

Rachael's Bio

I lived in south central Idaho on a two-acre property in a three-story home until the fourth grade. We moved to Idaho's capitol where we lived until I was in eighth grade when we moved to south eastern Idaho. This move affected my life greatly. It helped me to gain and solidify my testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ as well as helped me decide how accurately I was going to live the gospel. This is also where I met David who was to become my best friend and husband. After graduating from high school in 2001 I attended BYU for four and a half years and graduated with a B.A. in Modern Dance, shortly before giving birth to our first child. Through all of my experiences my faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ and my dedication to living His gospel with integrity has increased. My greatest desire is that I will be able to help my children live and love the gospel.

Our Love Story

Rachael and David met first in their ward after Rachael moved in at the age of fourteen. Rachael's family had just moved across town to a home more suited to their needs than the original duplex. Both of their families were active in the church and Rachael and David both served in leadership positions of their respective YM/YW groups. With that constant exposure to each other was added the fact that they went to the same high school and were in the same graduating class. They found each other to be attractive and dated each other quite a bit near the end of their senior year and the summer afterward. After his freshman year at BYU David went on a mission to Russia - Rachael wrote him about every month and a half, just as an "interested" friend. Rachael was at home working for the summer when David returned from his mission and immediately felt that she wanted to date him again, so she asked him to go see the Phantom of the Opera in Salt lake City; thereafter followed about six months of courtship before they were married in Logan, Utah. Now they're both "the luckiest."
