Remember that one post . . .

This is what my friend Clair made to meet the requirements of her post. The explanation that came with it:

Isn't she cute? How clever is that. By the way, only two people commented on my post, so three more still can . . . check the older posts (January 28) and comment on the one I'm referring to if you want me to make you something. I'll keep checking the comments to make sure I don't miss it.

He is such a goofy kid. Some of the strangest facials I've ever seen were on his face! I can't imagine where he got such a variety of expressions . . .

Ah, Valentines . . .

I was out of town for two weeks prior to Valentine's Day. I have in the past done little things for Dave as the day approached. Even though I was out of town I also did this year. I hid some candy items (Dave's fond of sweet stuff) throughout our apartment in places that I knew he wouldn't look through while I was gone. And then I mailed him little Valentine cards intermittently instructing him where to find his goodies: Bit o Honey (for my honey), Nerds (from a nerd), and milk chocolate lips (because he'd miss my hot lips).

The last thing I mailed him told him where to find these Mrs. Fields chocolates (and a smaller box for Dietrich) and I told him to bring them with him when he met me. And that more or less concluded MY gift giving in honor of the holiday.

When he met me he brought this rose as well. Which I thought was a funny substitute for real flowers. Really, I thought it was just funny. I was also a little surprised because he has been consistent in giving me yellow roses (they're my favorite) for this day.

Then when I got home I found all of this on our table! I entered by myself; we decided to send him and the kids to pick up our heart-shaped pizza from Papa Murphy's. I was so surprised! The Kingdom and the Crown series was on my wish list and so was the movie Enchanted, but I didn't anticipate that he'd get so much for this single holiday. Sweet, huh?! He really surprised me.

These are some sweet Valentine greetings (and Dietrich's chocolates) that Dietrich and Kate got from their Aunt and cousins. Aren't they cute? "You're oceans of fun, Valentine" and "Best fishes, Valentine." Clever right? I love family. And I love having a sweetheart. It was a LONG couple of weeks without him, and we're all glad to be back together.

Pics from Christmas (finally)

No pictures of Kate on Christmas because she was a little young to be very interested in any of it this year. I didn't have any baby's 1st Christmas outfits or anything like that for her. But isn't Dietrich so cute?! Now he can pretend to help Dad fix stuff without using Dad's stuff. :-)

David's Bio

I grew up in southeastern Idaho moving at age one from the center of our town to the outskirts. This home had approximately ten acres and much of my youth was spent outdoors both playing and working with my grandparents on their farms. I enjoyed sports throughout my life and was active in wrestling and football throughout junior high and high school. My junior and senior years at high school a sweet young girl even convinced me to join the ballroom dance team. I graduated from high school and attended BYU where I earned my Bachelors degree in Biology in April 2007. Having been raised in the gospel it has always been an influence in my life.

Rachael's Bio

I lived in south central Idaho on a two-acre property in a three-story home until the fourth grade. We moved to Idaho's capitol where we lived until I was in eighth grade when we moved to south eastern Idaho. This move affected my life greatly. It helped me to gain and solidify my testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ as well as helped me decide how accurately I was going to live the gospel. This is also where I met David who was to become my best friend and husband. After graduating from high school in 2001 I attended BYU for four and a half years and graduated with a B.A. in Modern Dance, shortly before giving birth to our first child. Through all of my experiences my faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ and my dedication to living His gospel with integrity has increased. My greatest desire is that I will be able to help my children live and love the gospel.

Our Love Story

Rachael and David met first in their ward after Rachael moved in at the age of fourteen. Rachael's family had just moved across town to a home more suited to their needs than the original duplex. Both of their families were active in the church and Rachael and David both served in leadership positions of their respective YM/YW groups. With that constant exposure to each other was added the fact that they went to the same high school and were in the same graduating class. They found each other to be attractive and dated each other quite a bit near the end of their senior year and the summer afterward. After his freshman year at BYU David went on a mission to Russia - Rachael wrote him about every month and a half, just as an "interested" friend. Rachael was at home working for the summer when David returned from his mission and immediately felt that she wanted to date him again, so she asked him to go see the Phantom of the Opera in Salt lake City; thereafter followed about six months of courtship before they were married in Logan, Utah. Now they're both "the luckiest."
