Happy Birthday

When Dietrich woke up he came out to the front room and found
this trike - and he was thrilled! (Thanks Randy and Teresa)

Later, when he went to look in the movie drawer, he found one that was all wrapped up - and it turned out to be CARS! Another welcome surprise for our three year-old.
Who needs cake when you've got your own individual Ben & Jerry's? He loved blowing out the candles.
MMmm . . . Cookie Dough. And just the right size for our little guy. His day also included an outing to the playground - despite the rain. He got chicken nuggets for lunch, and pizza for dinner. Can life get better? I submit that it cannot! :-)

Doctor's appointment

My kids had a check-up today - Kate's included immunizations and a blood draw, but she handled it very well. Kate is 22.8 lbs. - so I think she finally gained less than a pound between visits. She's in the 60th percentile for height, and the 95th percentile for weight.
Dietrich struggled the most with the easiest parts - weighing and measuring! He saw Kate do the other stuff first so I think that reassured him. Overall he handled it well also. He's nearly 37 inches and he weighs 33 lbs. They're both healthy little kids. What more can a mom ask for?

Easter

The kids' "Easter basket" included Kung Fu Panda and pocket-size Books of Mormon. We had a short session of scripture study last night and Dietrich stayed with us much better with his own scriptures in his hands! He really enjoyed what we had for him on Easter morning, and Kate really enjoyed playing with the emptied plastic eggs. We had a little egg hunt for Dietrich with about 15 eggs, only 3 of which had candy in them. The rest were numbered and had scriptures and objects that referred to the atonement and the resurrection. And Dietrich listened pretty well for that. I kind of wondered if he'd be bugged by the lack of candy in those eggs, but he found the objects interesting so he was really good about it! He really is a pretty good little boy.

This is Kate's Easter dress I guess. My sister-in-law got it for her (thanks, Amy!) and it just happened that she could fit into this size (12 mos), so I brought it out for the holiday. Isn't she sweet? Those rolls on her arms just kill me. You can't really tell in this picture how curly her hair can get, but it's really fun. I add a little bit of product and tease it for Sundays. Darn, she's cute!

Dietrich didn't have a special outfit, but he wanted his picture taken. Isn't this face he's making funny? He's kind of a clown. I love my silly boy. And Kate simply adores him.

My how time flies . . .

To the observant Allred blog viewer, it will not have escaped your notice that there is a new pic of Dietrich on the side here. That's because he had his 3 years photo session today! Follow this link to check out the other poses that were captured:

And, any ideas on what I can do for Dietrich's b-day when I hope to be almost completely packed by that date?

I feel like . . .

It's been a while since I posted something. I meant to take pics on David's b-day, but failed to do so. I'm not sure it's really been that long either, but my days have been so full that they feel longer than a day. And yet Sundays come around and I feel like the week went fast. There's a serious time warp in my life right now. Getting ready to move does that to you. :-) Dietrich's b-day is coming up next, and a photo shoot too so I'll get pics up pretty soon.
