Birthday dessert

Didn't light the candles for the picture because I was pretty sure they'd be blown out before I could get the shot. So I just took the picture before they were lit. :-) I overscheduled the day, but I think overall Dietrich had a good time. We went grocery shopping, went to an appointment with my OB/GYN, and after dinner went to get his pictures taken. Never again will I schedule stuff for a birthday. But Dietrich enjoyed his new outfit and sandals. :-) And obviously his dessert.

My Little Helper

Mostly he just likes to play in the rinse water, but he's not completely useless. He can put silverware into the drainer, and usually he will. The trick is just to make sure he doesn't fill dishes with water and dump it out on the floor. Huh - it just occurred to me that none of you can possibly know how low our kitchen sink is. Well, Dietrich can reach it after he gets on a small stool. Pretty darn low. But it's pretty fun to have Dietrich pretend he's helping. :-)

Number Two . . . is a girl!

You can't tell she's a girl in any of these pictures, but even if I had one like that I wouldn't post it on my blog! I'm so excited. I wanted it to be a girl, partly because then I for sure have one of each, but also because although Dietrich is all boy he's really sweet and tender - just perfect for a little sister don't you think? Knowing that mistakes have been made about girls' genders in ultrasounds I had the doctor make sure after the assistant person had taken a look and they'd discussed what they saw. Things look great, and this is definitely a girl. We'll name her Kate Eleanor.
