No pictures, just a heads up

For any and all who may be interested in more details of this pregnancy, I have a page with BabyFit.com where I post journal entries and have pictures etc. Some pictures will be posted here at the blog as well, but not all. Anyway, the link to the page is in the Friends & Family section here on my blog and is entitled Number Two. So, take a peek if you'd like!

Our Valentine's celebration

First I wanted to show you all the cute Valentine that came in the mail from my oldest niece. She just recently turned eight and she's the most creative, clever little thing - besides all of her siblings. :-) Next I decided to create a Valentine's basket - it includes all the gifts and goodies that we got for the holiday. Besides the lovely bouquet (aren't yellow roses sweet?) Dave got me some chocolates and some reese's pieces and the movie Ever After. I've been giving him little Valentine's cards with candy for the past week and a half. He outdid me though. :-)After we ate our Italian themed dinner we played, "The Newlywed Game." We just modified it for the two of us - I can't really recommend purchasing it (ours was a gift) because some questions I wouldn't even dream of asking with other couples around, and others set you up to insult your spouse and that's not our style. But we were amused by the questions we could use. Then we watched, "Ella Enchanted." I'd never seen it before, at least not completely. Cute show. Cheesy, but cute. Aren't romantic fairy tales appropriate for Valentine's day? While watching we ate some of the chocolate cheesecake that I made - it's a fantastic recipe. If you'd like it let me know. The last picture I included because what would a post be without at least one picture of our cute little boy? He loves these blocks and I managed to take a picture without him noticing - too bad it didn't turn out a little more clear. Hope everyone had a great V day!

Dietrich's bedtime routine

Dietrich is usually willing to brush his teeth anytime he sees us do it, so he actually is pretty regular. His favorite book - indeed, the only book that he has a full attention span for is "If You Take a Mouse to School." It really is the only book that we've been able to read to him in its entirety. And he insists on having it read to him every night before he goes to bed. Then we say prayers. And then we go ahead and lay him down in his crib with his buddy "Dan." Dan is a stuffed gorilla that his Grandmother Allred gave to him and he's only recently become attached to it - and he's VERY attached. Cute little boy. Ultimately he formed his own bedtime routine; we didn't make much of an effort to do anything consistently because until recently he's been so hard to get to sleep anyway. But now he actually will go to sleep on his own! Hooray!

Christmas past . . . but not very far past

Dietrich checking out the contents of his stocking on Christmas morning. This, unfortunately is the only pic we got of him. We got a little bit of video, but we ran out of battery. Grr! Then we have Dietrich enjoying the bed Mom and Dad slept in at Grandma & Grandpa Robinson's house. These pictures of large cat ornaments on our Christmas tree were taken for the benefit of my Aunt Ranae. Ever since we were young she has given my siblings and I Christmas ornaments to be opened on Christmas Eve. I really loved animals when I was little - apparently I especially liked cats. So my ornaments have been cats! But these are the largest ones and quite inappropriate for the tree we have now - it can barely hold them! Even if it could though, Dave insisted, "We are not having a Christmas tree full of cats!" But I had to put them on long enough to take pics and send them to my Aunt. Aren't they just bizarre?

Something's coming . . .

I don't know what it is, but it's gonna be great! haha Yes, we are pregnant. I'm in my 14th week and this baby is due August 2 of this year. I'll be sure to post when I know what the gender is. But I am just so excited to see Dietrich in the role of big brother. :-)

Mom Test

This is something amusing I received in an email recently. Absolutely no slam to dads intended (my little boy's daddy is just great!), but it made me chuckle.

I was out walking with my 4 year old daughter. She picked up
something off the ground and started to put it in her mouth. I took
the item away from her and I asked her not to do that. 'Why?' my
daughter asked. 'Because it's been on the ground, you don't know
where it's been, it's dirty, and probably has germs' I replied. At
this point, my daughter looked at me with total admiration and
asked, 'Momma, how do you know all this stuff, you are so smart.' I was
thinking quickly. 'All moms know this stuff. It's on the Mom Test.
You have to know it, or they don't let you be a Mom.' We walked
along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but she was evidently pondering this
new information.

'OH..I get it!' she beamed, 'So if you don't pass
the test you have to be the dad. ''Exactly' I replied back with a big smile on my face. When you're finished laughing, send this to a Mom.

Little trucker

Dietrich loves this truck. We gave it to him for his first birthday, and in addition to riding it he also finds it useful to climb to reach things he shouldn't have. I haven't yet had the sense of humor to take a picture of him doing something he shouldn't, but we did think it was funny when he threw on his hat and starting racing around the apartment. It used to be that we could barely get him to put it on when we went outside and then only if HE thought it was too cold without it. So we were surprised when he started throwing it on for fun when we were actually inside.

Thanksgiving of last year . . . and Happy February!

This last year our Thanksgiving was our first on our own since we've been married. I had enough food probably for 6 adults, but we only managed to recruit one besides ourselves. But it was okay because I had some great recipes to take care of the leftovers! I believe many of you that view this post may have seen these pictures already and have already heard about the menu. I also thought our table looked pretty nice for poor college students - my grandma gave me an entire dish set when she got new ones while we were still in Provo! The last picture was not actually taken on Thanksgiving, but I thought it expressed how I felt about my culinary accomplishments for that day. :-)
